Overview of the Atlanta, GA. Project: The Buckhead Alliance  (Continued from Home age)

The Buckhead Alliance organization began in order to help a once- thriving city, become a safer place to live and work.

When the alliance began, it planned to help beautify the city by adding walkways, street lights, and additional landscaping to increase its curb appeal. By adding these elements to the cityscape, the Buckhead Alliance has succeeded in its mission to begin the transformation of beautifying the heart of Buckhead/Atlanta.

The Buckhead Alliance also assessed the city’s safety issue by adding outdoor cameras that were monitored by the Atlanta police. The alliance raised private funds to provide local police with a state of the art monitoring station and camera views to the city. From the tops of high-rise buildings and even down into alley ways, the cameras provided “eyes” into the happenings of a busy night life in downtown Buckhead.

Statistics and recent crime analysis show that crime is down in the area, and that local tenants and residents are quite happy with the progress that the Buckhead Alliance has made thus far.

Some of the alliance founders were several area residents; Robin Loudermilk, President of Aaron Rents, Rayomond B. King, senior V.P. of Suntrust, and Robert Bradshaw, President of Central Asset Management, just to name a few.

However, this project would not have been possible if it had not been for several key players and contributors. With the lack of security playing a major role in area safety of residents and employees, this was a need that had to be met. The alliance contacted Stealth Security Services to supply the cameras for the project.

The cameras that needed to be mounted inside the city, had to provide images day or night, regardless of weather and lighting conditions. Stealth Security Services provided the cameras and the technology for the twenty-four hour surveillance to be possible.

The cameras were mounted on top of buildings such as Aaron’s, The Eclipse and The Capital and the Plaza. Cameras were also placed in shopping complexes like The Peach, and mounted inside highly visible in-town skyboxes.

The total number of security cameras in the area has risen from 26 up to 112 in the past few years. The community business owners can see the positive effects from the added security, and neighboring businesses continue to contribute to the program.

The Buckhead Alliance is a continual effort to keep Buckhead safe, beautiful and thriving. The alliance integrates their efforts with the residents, city officials and public safety administrators to continue to grow and keep the community strong.
